Hedi Slimane photographing James Bagshaw

Hedi Slimane is a French fashion designer who has worked with Dior, Louis Voutton and Yves Saint Laurent. In May 2006, Hedi Slimane created the photographic blog Hedi Slimane Diary, and shot spreads for magazines such as French Vogue, VMAN and Purple. The image below is of the singer James Bagshaw (Temples) and is one of the key images I have chosen by Hedi Slimane.
This photo is part of Slimane's Rock Diary, a project he started to document the work he's done with musicians, photographing them in their natural habitat. Slimane's intentions with these photos was to capture them without it appearing posed or unnatural. This photo is in black and white, as are most of Slimane's photos in his Rock Diary, which I believe helps capture the personality of the model, as author Ted Grant said - “When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in Black and white, you photograph their souls!”
The composition of this photo allows for little negative space, and the blank colour of the background means it doesn't detract any attention from the model.
